Chateau L’Evangile, Pomerol
HK$ 2,440
72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc
Château L’Evangile’s wines are described in an old edition of “Grand Vins de Bordeaux”, as “full-bodied and elegant, with incomparable finesse”.
An early homogeneous flowering, a beautiful month of July, then a very hot and dry month of August, accompanied by some welcome showers at the beginning of September, propelled the vintage into a promising orbit. The rains from September 15 complicated the harvest but the Merlots were already partly harvested or about to be.
The result is a predominance of Merlot in this vintage. The color is opaque, the nose is expressive, of great purity, the attack on the palate is powerful, oily and silky, the finish is of rare length. A great vintage with very long aging potential.
