Paul Jaboulet Aine, “La Chapelle”, White, Hermitage AOC
The name of Hermitage “la Chapelle” is linked to the little chapel of Saint-Christophe overlooking the terraced vineyards along the Rhone. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aine has been the sole owner since 1919.
To revive its past tradition, maison Paul Jaboulet Aine decided in 2006 to produce la Chapelle white again, a tradition that died out in 1962 (after a very great vintage, however!)
The Hermitage “La Chapelle” blanc is not produced every vintage. It comes from the “Maison Blanche” block. The soil is very stony, with small pebbles all over the block. The soil is also made of silt and red clay that helps to keep a good water supply for the vines during all the season.
This 100% Marsanne white Hermitage is produced only in exceptional vintages. It exhibits a lot of fresh cut white flowers aromas with hints of citrusy notes (lime, tangerine) but after a couple of minutes in the glass, the complexity appears with more butter citrus notes, honeyed citrus aromas and a burgundian-like texture and acid profile that really impress.
Truffle Risotto, Bresse chicken with cream, Lobster ravioli with artichokes.
