La Chapelle stands as a vital component of the world’s
most prestigious wine heritage. Its 26-hectare vineyard
encompasses the most exquisite terroirs of Hermitage. Derived
from the Méal and Bessards parcels, boasting vines that have
gracefully aged beyond 100 years, La Chapelle’s Syrah blend
encapsulates the very soul of this multifaceted terroir, serving
as the quintessential embodiment of the Hermitage hill’s
distinctive character.
During the 13th century, Knight Gaspard de Sterimberg,
returning from the Crusades, sought solace within this chapel
and began cultivating vines. His hermit’s existence not only
contributed to the naming of the Hermitage appellation but
also inspired our white Hermitage, Le Chevalier de Sterimberg,
crafted from Marsanne and Roussanne grapes.
Since 1919, the Jaboulet and Frey families have nurtured the
vineyards on these steep slopes, where the iconic La Chapelle
Hermitage cuvée has found its home. For nearly two decades,
Caroline Frey, the President and Head Winemaker of Domaine
de La Chapelle, has ardently upheld this exceptional heritage,
revealing the enduring brilliance of this remarkable place.
La Chapelle transcends time through vintages of unwavering
freshness and purity.
With every sip, we draw closer to eternity.
