Colterenzio

Alto Adige, Italy

Alto Adige is the point where Northern and Southern Europe meet. As a result, the Alpine and Mediterranean climates are combined together to form a unique region, fascinating and ideal for growing wines of characters. Colterenzio is also well known for being a high ranged co-operative; “The Quality Group”. Created in 1960, “The Quality Group” counts nowadays nearly 300 members, who cultivate only 300 hectares of vineyards. Its wines are internationally recognized as some of the most exclusive in Italy. In 2008, Robert Parker declared: “Simply put, this is an impressive range. The Colterenzio line up was among the most consistently impressive I tasted this year .” Nothing surprising since we know that the producer’s main objective is to maintain the natural biological balance of the vine, requiring not only severe reduction of yields per hectare/ plant, but also a total absence of herbicides.
