Founded in 1980, the Chimney Rock winery was designed to produce artisan wines of “First Growth” structure, style and taste. The wine originates from small parcels owned and controlled by the estate, which are located in the south of the Stags Leap District. The Stags Leap District is the smallest and most acclaimed of all sub-appellations in Napa Valley, gaining fame when a Cabernet Sauvignon won the famous Paris tasting in 1976, beating the likes of First Growth estates such as Mouton Rothschild and Haut-Brion. Fletcher, who is the winemaker, produces these boutique luxury wines that are drinkable upon release, but can age well for decades. The wines have aromas of blackberry and cassis, with gentle but well - structured tannins and a silky texture.
