Domaine Ramonet Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru AOC
HK$ 8,000
This Grand Cru is only located on the Puligny-Montrachet side and is the most North-East of the Grands Crus of Montrachet. Of slightly lower altitude than the neighboring Bâtard-Montrachet vineyard, it references to the Lords who owned these lower parcels and gave them to their serfs, whom in turn named Bienvenue or Welcome as they were donated to them.
Ramonet’s Bienvenue consists of thirty-five rows at the end of the small section of the Bâtard and Bienvenue parcels. Its dark soils contain heavy clay mixed with tiny limestones. Usually restrained but elegant and discreet when young, it exhibits a sheer purity of white peach, pear, and green apple aromas over a fine mineral structure which comes and goes with a lasting finish. It offers a sharp contrast to the powerful Bâtard-Montrachet style even if the vines are adjacent and the same age, but has a great capacity to age, more than 15 years. Vines were planted in 1967.
