Lions de Batailley, Pauillac
HK$ 440
“Lions de Batailley” is the second wine of Château Batailley and draws its name from the two Lions who guard the gates of Château Batailley’s main entrance.
Château Batailley, a 5th Grand Cru Classé of the classification of 1855, is the Castéja family’s and Borie-Manoux’s flagship. It is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc.
Lions de Batailey comes mainly from young vines, as well as from wines issued from non-associated plots in the final Grand Vin blend.
Lions de Batailley is produced from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape varietal which grows well on Batailley’s gravel soil. Balanced, silky tannins with acidity and length. It is a wine that drinks easily young, but will also age well.
“The blackcurrant and blueberry aromas pop out of the glass. Medium to full body, linear and refined tannins and a currant, coffee and smoke aftertaste. Second wine of Batailley. Try after 2022” – James Suckling
