Famille Perrin Les Sinards Blanc Chateauneuf du Pape AOC 2021
HK$ 430
The Sinards Blancs is part of what is called the Clos du château, near Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The two-and-a-half-hectare vineyard is located right next to one of the plots for Sinards Rouge.
2021 is a vintage marked by freshness, which is similar to the vintages we had in the eighties and nineties. It is also what we call a “winegrower vintage”, human intervention and the care given to the vines were decisive for the quality of the vintage. Marked by climatic vagaries, with an episode of frost in April and interrupted harvest because of rain, this year has indeed required constant investment from our teams in the vineyard. Their attention and their commitment have borne their fruit: this vintage is very promising with lots of freshness and great balance.
As of August, we carry out maturity checks and berry tastings to determine the optimal date for harvest. On arrival at the winery, the grapes are pressed using a pneumatic press. The must is refrigerated and the settling is done by cold maceration, without any additions. The alcoholic fermentation starts in the tank and as of the first day, the must is put into demi-muids barrels. Regular bâtonnage is carried out in order to bring roundness and structure to the wine. After several months in barrels, the wines are slightly fined before bottling.
Tasting Note: Elegant pale-gold colour with silver undertones. With finesse and delicacy, the nose reveals a seductive aromatic bouquet with notes of white flowers and acacia mixed with fresher notes of yuzu and fennel. On the palate, this wine opens up with floral notes, well balanced by a nice structure and roundness, before revealing its beautiful freshness and a lot of aromatic persistence with notes of acacia, peaches and citrus fruit which gives great length.
