Casa Ferreirinha, Quinta da Leda 2017
HK$ 600
Vinified at Quinta da Leda’s modern winery, the grapes, after full de-stemming and soft crushing, were fermented in stainless steel tanks and granite presses. Maceration was adjusted to each variety, and temperature control and pumping-over were applied in accordance with the characteristics of each of one. This enabled the quality components of each variety to softly to pass from the ripe grape skin to the wine. Between October and December the wines were taken to Vila Nova de Gaia where maturing for about a year in 225-litre oak barrels, 50% new, and 50% used one, took place. The Quinta da Leda final blend was made from a very careful selection after numerous tasting sessions that made it possible to choose the wines from the best barrels. The final blend underwent a slight filtering prior to bottling, but a deposit may develop over the years.
Tasting Note: It presents a deep red color. Its aroma is intense and complex, which dominates plum, cassis, resin, cedar and cloves and nutmeg. It is still highlight aromas of violet and some chocolate, always in perfect harmony with discreet wood, well integrated and excellent quality. In the mouth reveals great elegance, being remarkable its volume, balanced acidity, excellent quality tannins and black fruit aromas, spices and floral. Very long and great harmony.
Food Pairing: Its elegant and complex profile makes it ideal with fine meats, game and intense cheeses. One suggestion is to serve it with duck magret with noodles, Chinese mushrooms and rocket.
