Jerome Galeyrand Marsannay Les Champs Perdrix 2022
HK$ 600
After working at Domaine Alain Burguet in Gevrey-Chambertin and training at the Beaune wine school, Jérôme Galeyrand set up his own winery in 2002 on a 0.5 ha plot in the Côtes de Nuits. Since opening, this winery has become a leading producer in Burgundy and they have expanded their estate to 5.5 hectares spread across five of the most prestigious denominations. As a result, they produce very pure wines with a clear expression of the terroir.
Variety: Chardonnay
Vine Age: Planted in 2016
Terroir: Located at the top of a steep slope, on Dijon-Corton limestone.
Viticulture: Organic (Ecocert, 2019)
Vinification: No added SO2 during vinification. Crushed and pressed in a vertical wood press, ambient yeast fermentation and aging for 12 months in barrels (20% new), aged for an additional 2 months in tank. No fining, light filtration if necessary. SO2 added before bottling (50-55 ppm total).
Made from seven-year-old vines, the 2022 Les Champs Perdrix reveals a seductively rich, mineral, smoky nose, with tangy orange citrus, pear drop, orange cordial, and a smoky limestone minerality. The palate is fabulously cool and genteel with layers of tangy acidity, orange peel zest and a plush, fleshy saline depth. Truly delicious!
